Today I am grateful for utilities: running water, natural gas and electricity. I really didn’t think about these
until I traveled to places where you can’t rely on water coming out of the
faucet just because you turn on the spigot, or electricity coming on just
because you flip the switch.
Utilities are part of the foundation for our standard of
living – bathing, cooking, keeping our houses clean, keeping our homes warm or
cool, preserving our food, not to mention making our lawns nice or keeping our
swimming pools full.
And it’s really nice to take a shower and not worry about
getting some crazy bacteria just because you open your mouth when you are under
the water.
